Why aren't there enough Hawaiian Immersion Teachers?
Well first think about the teacher shortage in regular education, now think of the Hawaiian Immersion Program, the teacher shortage in Hawaiian Immersion is worst. Hawaiian Immersion teachers are rare and hard to find. It is very difficult to get people interested in Hawaiian Studies because people don't see Hawaiian Studies as something that will get them a prominent job. Most people that live here in Hawai'i go into areas that will help them in the field of tourism. Basically most people don't find Hawaiian Studies and Hawaiian language attractive and practical in pursuing a sustainable career.

I think this blog is true, I wouldn't mind being a hawaiian immersion teacher but it is too difficult for me to learn the hawaiian language let alone teach it. But I think we do need more teachers because I want my kids to go to a hawaiian immersion school. Maybe you should be one because you know the language! but I don't know how to fix that problem.
